What does eczema look like?

Eczema, which is also known as atopic dermatitis, is a cluster of persistent skin diseases that is very common in babies and young children. The word “Atopic” means an allergy that is mainly occurred due to hereditary disorder and “dermatitis” means redness of the skin.

A recent study estimates that near about 35 million of Americans including 1-3% of adults & 10-20% of children are affected by this disease. In fact, 70% of cases occurred when the children are younger than 5 years old.   

Symptoms of eczema are redness of skin, bumps, scratching injuries and lines on the skin. Sometimes, the skin becomes very dry and itchy that aggravates the condition even worse.

What does Eczema look like?

Babies having eczema look like a pinkish-red, peeling rash, which is quite inflamed.
